The snowflakes are falling and love looking into the woods along with watching all the feathered friends.  They eat the food as fast as my husband fills up the feeders.

Tiny Spring Peat Pot Baskets

I am so ready for Spring to get my hands into the dirt and plant garden.  Even though I like winter I am ready to see the Spring blooms in the garden and yard.  To bring some Spring into my sewing room, I took some garden peat pots left over from last year and decorated them using some of my old laces, flowers, buttons and then filled with some pink grass I had from last year, then tucked cute tiny felt bunnies and a chick in the baskets. I had the bunnies left from a church project last year, so I was happy I did not have to purchase anything to make the baskets.  I think they are so sweet and make me smile.  I have seen beautiful decorated peat pots on the internet and admire what is done with them.

  Now I am in the mood to begin decorating the house with a touch of Spring!  Have you began your Spring crafting?

 

I have always loved the old fuzzy little bunnies, chicks and ducks.  These are not old, however, I love them, they just have character!

Old Photo Frame

  Awaking this morning to snow, and still snowing, I decided to stay in by the warm fire in the fireplace.   I wanted to share a small project just completed a few days ago, after I found a few old photo frames, I had hidden away and forgotten about.  

    I have been attempting to reorganize my small sewing and crafting room AGAIN to store items to be more visual..........and is a struggle. I have determined I may never truly be organized the way I envision my space.
   
     I thought this old frame would be a way to hold special cards, letters, photos etc. 

     I  pulled out a photo I had taken one snowy day and used the photo as the main focal area.  I had laid a lace scarf down on the snow and then set old stacked books on top of the lace.  I loved the effect of the snow, lace, books and a little brown stubble of grass showing through.

     I then stitched the photo and decorative paper on the frame using tan thread.  Next the frame was stitched up to the flap.

     Then lace, old buttons, small old key, and old pin were all glued with E6000 glue to the flap.  For closing the flap, I finished off with black velcro.

  

                 The detail in the design on the frame is so so pretty

Symbols of Love on Valentine's Day

Hearts, Cards and Cookies. symbols of love

Making  my own  Valentine Cards for family and friends have always been a fun project to do each year.   A few of the cards I made from old postcards which were in my Grandmother's collection.  I love the old pretty precious Valentine cards.

Others were made out of bits of papers, ribbon  and scrap booking embellishments.

                       
Found some really large strawberries, so dipped to give to family and friends.   Since I had not make cut out cookies for sometime, I got out my old recipe for sugar cookies and made a few to give away.  In the end, I did a little to much taste testing.

I love all kinds and types of hearts and made this heart out of cardboard packing and used pink German glass glitter, which I also love.  Recycled a plastic straw and wrapped and glued paper around the straw, tied a ribbon and put in an old silver cone to display on the front of the dining room hutch.

 I have been working on a few fixed media pieces, however, I made this wall piece last year out of an old card of my Grandmother's and stitched layers of various fabrics, laces and other embellishments to complete.  I would love to take a class someday......... there are so many wonderful and talented mixed media artists, however, the distance is so far away to attend many of them.

This rustic project is an old tin photography piece, which was my Grandfather's, and was going to be discarded, so I saved, and came up with the  idea to make a new floral holder.  I pretty much left the box as was, however, did drip some turquoise paint over the tarnished areas.  Then glued a metal rose, one of my Grandma's old spoons,  wide old lace with tiny buttons and a pearl heart pin.

Just feel in love with these slippers.  They are actually Christmas ornaments.  Made a small little red silk pillow and set in an old antique box.

                       

  For awhile I had been intending to make a small doll with a heart shaped head.  I really have to work on the eyes.  There is an art to making perfect eyes.  Practice makes perfect, but I am not there yet.

  I did have fun seeing how she would turn out.  She looks perfect in my old trunk.  The photo did not turn out very well, so much light coming in through the window.

Hearts in the Snow

                                         May 2015 bring you JOY, PEACE, and LAUGHTER!

As I was looking out into our back yard this A.M. and seeing the last small areas of snow, a light went off in my head to grab my camera and take a few photos to possibly turn into some new crafting projects this year.

I want to really take the time this year to learn how to take better photos. Adjusting the tint gives a whole new look! I need to think "outside" my box more.  I love hearts, crosses and rusty objects.
