It struck me, I had been saving a bird ornament made out of heavy cardboard, so I began pulling out objects along with paint to experiment with the artist canvas I had to make a Spring mixed media project to set on a table. I took old book text and tore several pages for the background, glued and painted part of the canvas, used a decorative bird nest, old lace, old pearl earring, old fork, old buttons and belt buckle and finished off with a old rusty door hinge. I think I used "OLD" to many times!
I pretended the bird ornament was a blue bird, even though I don't think I accomplished the true colors. What can I say, except I am not a painter. I do like the finished look. I enjoy taking bits and pieces of old and new, to bring together for a different piece of home décor.
The second project I worked on was taking this very old light globe that was my grandmother's, and since some the burgundy paint had chipped off on the inside, I decided to give a different look to the globe, and used turquoise watered down paint, then rolled the paint around the globe and set out in the sun to dry. I LOVE the color of turquoise, especially turquoise jewelry, which has nothing really to do with this light globe. I really like the effect, especially after I added a few flower stems. Old is new again and a LOW COST piece of décor to set in the sunroom.
Wishing you a good week, and let your creative side lead you in a new direction.
Sharon
